It wasn’t surprising, considering how big the project was. But we had trouble asking for directions because none of the workers we encountered spoke English.

It was a stark reminder of how reliant the sector is on workers from overseas and it prompted me to ask the executive about the impact of a potential exodus of workers post-Brexit.
The director admitted he didn’t know. He hoped the government would understand the predicament the industry would find itself in if such an event were to occur.
But all he could do was hope for the best.
