Skanska UK PLC are looking for a Head of Sustainability to join our Civil Engineering division, based out of our head office in Maple Cross, Hertfordshire.
Key functions of the role:
Lead and drive the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement of Skanska Civil Engineering Environment, Sustainability and Community Relations performance by steering and managing the applications and implementations of the EMS.
Raise Environmental Awareness within Skanska.
Provide support to Skanska Group.
Lead, drive and advise Community Relations and represent Skanska Civil Engineering at a corporate level.
Principle Duties & Accountabilities
Ensure that relevant stakeholders have access to the environment/sustainability policies and are kept informed of environmental developments and issues.
Monitor, review and feedback performance against the requirements of the EMS and the relevant legislation.
Liaise with, and assist all Directors and Managers in ensuring that a satisfactory level of environmental Awareness and performance exists.
Recruit, co-ordinate, mentor and manage the activities of the Environmental and Community Relations Team.
Direct the development & delivery of suitable environmental training programmes for all Skanska Civil Engineering staff.
Manage a programme of site environmental inspections and audits.
Manage the development, regular review and update of the EMS in order to ensure that it is comprehensive and up to date.
Raise environment/sustainability/community relations awareness.
External liaison (reality checks, audits, clients).
Provide support at all stages of the construction process from tender stage to the running and completion of projects.
Co-ordinate Considerate Constructors information and report on Community Relations.
Represent Skanska environmentally within the construction industry.
Ad hoc duties as job requires.
Key Working Relationships
Responsibility for managing the Environmental and Community Relations Departments.
Liaison with:
Internal: Group EHS Manager (reporting UKCE performance, technical discussions); Counterparts in other Skanska businesses (technical discussions, sharing best practice); Potentially all UKCE employees, including supply chain (technical discussions, advice).
External: Local Authorities; Regulatory bodies and interested parties; Clients and Prospective clients.
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required
Experience in a similar role preferred.
Degree level in appropriate Environmental discipline.
Full driving licence.
Moderate IT skills.
Relevant CSCS Card.
The successful candidate will be expected to undergo a CRB check.
