Estimator

The role is to ensure the company's cost base is clearly understood and that a central cost database is produced and maintained for the accurate production of cost data and estimates. The role also predominately includes estimating costs and setting up improved processes and procedures with day to day interface with pricing team within the multi-utilities arena. Provide base price build ups to our external contractors to allow agreed prices on abnormal or special works. Reviewing and negotiating costs and prices with external contractors as necessary as variations require valuation.

Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be a commercially astute individual with the ability to challenge the status quo.

Main Duties:
-To produce cost estimates for varying activities such as gas connections, pipe laying, reinstatement works in various simple and complex work situations
-To support the commercial validation, assessment and challenge of cost and price data to ensure the financial viability and accuracy of information
-To review and improve cost data collection

The ideal candidate will fit the above criteria along with the below;
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Previous estimating experience with a contractor
- Ideally experience of gas connection works and or multi-utilities
- Able to work under pressure

My Client is one of the UK's leading providers of utility infrastructure services. Within the past twelve months they have delivered thousands of utility connections to a diverse UK customer base including British Gas and Taylor Wimpey generating and annual turnover of almost £40m.

Basic Salary of between £30,000 and £40,000 pa plus peripheral benefits package.

Where specific UK qualifications are required we will take into account overseas equivalents.
