We seek an experienced civil engineer to help deliver flood risk strategy within the East Riding of Yorkshire, a predominately rural authority which covers 933 square miles with a growing population of 324,000. Strengths include a great environment, a well-educated workforce and a top scoring council known for innovation and e-government.
You will assist in the development of strategic management of the flood infrastructure, co-ordinating the local flood risk activities of the council and other flood authorities, appraising flood risk and the state of flood related assets.
The post has responsibility for the development of the authority's Local Flood Risk Strategy, including Flood Risk Assessment, Flood Hazard Maps, Flood Risk Management Plans, Surface Water Management Plans, including the collection and development of strategic information including inventory and condition. You will assist in the preparation of bids relating to management of flood and surface water infrastructure.
We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven project management skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines. We would expect the individual to have an understanding of hydrological modelling/assessment flood risk and managing water-related infrastructure.
We value motivation, problem-solving skills, proven ability to deliver within time-scales and experience in strategy development and report writing.
