One of the largest energy companies in Europe with key business operations in France, the UK, Germany and Italy requires a Delivery / Project Manager to join its expanding work force in Somerset. The Delivery / Project Manager reports directly to the Balance Of Plant Delivery Manager and is responsible for the direction and leadership of all activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of the programme of work assigned to them.
Your key accountabilities will include the techno-commercial project management of the Marine Infrastructure Contracts and the successful interface management of the works in association with the developing activities at the project site. The Jetty works at site and the Wharf are critical enabling works facilitating the development of the project site and following construction activities. Co-ordination within the HPC Directorate, the Architect Engineer and project stakeholders will be paramount to the safe performance of the works.
This post has the responsibility to ensure delivery of all the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities for the life cycle of the programme of work in accordance with the overall Project schedule. This post will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project.
The nature of the role is to provide leadership and teamwork to ensure the effective delivery of activities in the programme, while recognising and managing the impacts of the programme on the wider Project. The Delivery / Project Manager will apply a project management approach to activities relating to design principles and system design which are undertaken by the Architect Engineer, detailed design, manufacturing and construction which are largely delivered through contracts and commissioning managed through integrated contractor and Energy teams to ensure all activities are delivered safely, to quality, budget and schedule.
Proactive team working is crucial as the Delivery / Project Manager will be required to establish and lead diverse project team members to deliver activities within their programme. Key resources will need to be identified, requested and clear roles and responsibilities will need to be communicated.
The Delivery / Project Manager will manage one or more contract packages within a broad Portfolio and you will expected to carry out the following duties:In the region of 3 to 5 direct reports.Management of Commercial and Procurement Team of around 30.Direct responsibility for contract management with values in the region of £100m to £250m.Holds delivery programme liability for contractors and external stakeholders within their area of responsibility.
All posts will have;Delegated authority consistent with the management of the major contracts associated with the assigned programme of work.Track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector.Experience of successfully engaging senior management and groups of stakeholders.Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation.Experience of managing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment.Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.Strong numerical and analytical skills.Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations.Working knowledge of French language an advantage.Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, physics or other related field.Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.Knowledge and / or practitioner of Project and Programme Management with experience of applying; APM Body of knowledge, OGC's Prince 2, OGC's MSP (Managing Successful programmes) or equivalent.Manage the work scope to be delivered within the programme of work and the interfaces to the other programmes.Lead a team, capable of delivering the work scope, with clear roles and responsibilities and delivery accountabilities.Maintain a programme execution plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised and executed.Drive the delivery of the programme activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements, monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters. Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the programme. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues to the Project Controls Director. Monitor and adjust the execution plan where issues arise to ensure the overall programme schedule is met.Hold level 3 schedules developed and maintained for the programme. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall Project schedules (levels 1 and level 2). Escalate any discrepancies to the Project Controls Director.Interface with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practice.Ensure that programme contractual requirements are fulfilled.Maintain effective working relationships with all project team members.
