My client is looking for an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to work on the Isle of Wight on a new build school project for 6 months (mid April to end Sep 2012) with the possibility of a temp to perm contract.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Preparation of Construction Budgets within a given timescale.
2.Assist in the claims process
3.Taking off quantities from drawings, preparing schedules and other working documents. This will require the ability to understand and use standard specifications and standard details.
4.Appraising of tenders and negotiation of the submitted rates.
5.Holding meetings with subcontractors at site with the aim of ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with the subcontractor order, company specifications and current legislation.
6.Some material procurement will be required however this will mainly be carried out by the Buyer.
7.Agreement of final accounts
8.Provide commercial advice and support to others.
9.Considerable financial responsibility will be involved, particularly in negotiating tenders, reporting and controlling build costs.
10.Resolving development commercial issues, disputes and discrepancies that may arise during construction.
