Job Summary:
To lead, direct and undertake track designs (layout, alignment and trackform) and specification, feasibility studies, implementation planning and costing and other railway civil engineering technical activities to project remits. To lead multi-functional railway projects and oversee and coordinate work packages undertaken by other technical groups. To provide specialist technical support and assistance to railway infrastructure projects.
Core Functions:

Delivery of demanding and complex P Way projects as nominated by Project Manager, Project Engineer, Task Manager and/or contributor
Ensure that technical tasks are undertaken in accordance with the Company's quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls
Provide sound specialist permanent way advice and solutions across all aspects of the Company's activities and commissions
Independent delivery of consultancy assignments and advisory support to Clients and lead research and formulation of technical concepts and approaches
Maintain working knowledge across aspects of permanent way and lead contribution to developing the Company's general capability, breadth and depth of expertise and practices
Build and maintain good relationships with Client's and with supplier's/collaborator's key representatives and lead contribution to the marketing/networking of the Company to potential customers and partners
Provide effective leadership of the formulation of Proposals (single and multi-functional) and their presentation to potential Clients
Contribute to the overseeing and mentoring, development and training of junior staff and to resource planning, allocation and utilisation;
Specific allocated responsibilities and duties commensurate with individual experience and developmental needs.
Training and Work Experience:

Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent capability essential.
Chartered Engineer (C.Eng. M.I.C.E.). Extensive experience of technical aspects of UK main line, metro and/or light rail would be anticipated for a candidate to be able to demonstrate the required technical competency for this role. Knowledge and skills in track and railway civil engineering planning, design, specification, construction/renewal, maintenance and operation. Candidate will need to be able to demonstrate significant track record of interaction with clients, delivery partners and affected stakeholders whilst leading technical delivery of Rail trackside infrastructure.
