This position with a central London Authority is within the Crossrail Environmental Sciences Team, which is consulted in planning applications and provides comments from the Environmental Health point of view related to noise, air quality and contaminated land. They also offer acoustic advice to the 24 Hour Noise Team, the Planning Department and Licensing Service. This involves noise monitoring and site investigations on complex nuisance issues related to mechanical plant. In addition, they support the enforcement of noise conditions under licensing legislation for the nighttime economy. They also deal with other forms of nuisance such as odour and pollution and are enforcing the Control of Pollution Act with regards to major construction sites (section 61 consents). You will support the team in commenting on planning applications and dealing with major construction sites (EMPs, section 61s, air quality control and contaminated land issues). You will hold a Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health and be a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or similar and a track record in the field of noise / pollution related work, technical experience of noise monitoring equipment, knowledge of operation and of its calibration and use.
