A number of opportunities exist for proven mechanical design engineers to join a successful autonomous part of a large multinational engineering company. The company is involved with the design, development & manufacture of an extensive range of off-highway construction & agricultural machinery for a broad international customer base.

You will be working in a state-of-the-art facility that is involved with the design, development and manufacture of diesel engines for use within the company's vehicles and machines. You will work alongside control, calibration, development, test, electrical and manufacturing professionals both on new and existing product developments and machine programmes.

The company is investing heavily in new products and engine systems so this is a fantastic time to join the group.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will report to the Engineering Manager and will be involved with the detailed design, modelling and analysis the products. You will contribute innovative and cost effective solutions for new products and existing systems. This will involve working in a project team using 3D CAD systems to design, model and develop new systems and components. You may be involved with supporting development, test and NPI and working with customers and suppliers.

The ideal candidate would be a proven design engineer with strong mechanical engineering knowledge coupled with an interest, understanding and ideally exposure to diesel or gasoline engine / engine component design (e.g. base engine, gearbox, transmission, Powertrain, fuel injection, turbochargers, cooling systems, piston / cylinders, crank shaft, castings, etc)

Knowledge / Skills Required:

oIdeally a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject areas (e.g. mechanical engineering, automotive, agricultural engineering, aerospace, engine design etc)
oProven mechanical design ability relating to engine systems or similar
oStrong understanding of mechanical first principals (analysis, modelling, etc)
oUse of high end 3D Solid modelling CAD tools (e.g. UG NX, ProE, Catia, Solidworks)
oUnderstanding of full product design lifecycle (concept, design / DFM, development, test, tooling, NPI etc)
oStrong communication skills (written / verbal) and a strong team ethic coupled with the ability to work alone and manage own work load if required
oAble to provide support to purchasing regarding supplier / component selection

Candidates that have gained similar knowledge within other related industry sectors will be considered - e.g. Aerospace / aircraft engines, defence / military vehicles, marine engines, valvetrain, industrial generator sets, etc

oCandidates with leadership ability would be ideal
oProject management ability would be useful
oFormal design documentation to include; FMEA, change documentation and drawings
