Head of Design Management - North West

Role:
To manage the design management processes, tools, systems and the recruitment, development and training of professional staff, working on water utilities projects.
Responsibilities:
-Accountable for Design Management capability, working with the Area Engineering Managers and Engineering Delivery Managers to manage their design management requirements, making use of internal and external resources as necessary to meet business requirements.
-Line (functional) management of a number of Senior Design Managers and Design Managers.
-Responsible for the development and maintenance of Design Management processes, tools and systems.
-Recruitment, development and training of Senior Design Managers and Design Managers.
Requirements:
-Ideally Charted Engineer, with significant experience in Engineering Management in the water sector.
-Excellent programme / portfolio management experience with a demonstrable track record of successful delivery.
-Strategic orientation - good knowledge and experience of strategic planning with an ability to contribute to strategic debates and to influence engineering-wide strategies and policies.
-Extensive experience of business planning i.e. translation of company strategies into departmental Business Operating Plans and Budgets.
-Commercially aware, risk, cost and quality focussed, with sound knowledge of the wider business and regulatory environment.
-Strong understanding of value engineering principles, analysis and reporting, risk analysis and risk management techniques.
-Strong knowledge of the Water industry.
-Excellent knowledge of Design Management processes and tools.
-APMP or equivalent qualification.
Remuneration:
The successful Design Manager will receive:
-£60k-£65k Basic Salary
