My client based in Hertfordshire are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technian to be based in Hertfordshire.
Role Purpose:To support the Property & Projects team in the provision of maintenance services (and technical/engineering support to Projects Services) for the company property portfolio, to meet the needs of the business and internal customers.
Key Responsibilities: Effective provision of a variety of maintenance functions (allocated and only limited where tasks require specialist expertise in either mechanical or electrical engineering), including condition/planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities (including 'opening-up'), fault diagnosis and use of computerised building/equipment management systems (including via remote access), renewals/replacement works and requisition requests for the provision of necessary supplies and parts. Provision of associated maintenance support activities including maintaining of records and other relevant documentation regarding the above maintenance functions and assisting with the supervision and monitoring of external contractors undertaking maintenance functions or renewals/replacement works.
Provide assistance to other Property Services teams, where appropriate and similar skills sets are required, and seek proactively to develop team working opportunities and integration of services across the various sites.
Key Technical Knowledge: Good knowledge of M&E services and equipment as typically found within a research laboratory environment, including, steam services and special air/fume extraction. Good working knowledge of computerised building/equipment management systems, including fault diagnosis and remote access. Good working knowledge of fire alarm and fire suppressant systems. Good working knowledge of current and relevant H&S legislation and requirements as applicable to research laboratory environments and plant operation and maintenance.
Key Skills: Possess a relevant qualification such as City & Guilds/NVQ, having served an apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline. IT literate, particularly in use building/equipment management systems.Good organisation and communication skills - both verbal and written.Good level of numeracy.Good team working skills, flexible and able to adapt to change.Able to work well under pressure and own initiative.Good problem solving and planning skills.
