As a result of continued expansion plans, my client currently requires an Senior level Electrical Design Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. My client is a multi-disciplined consulting engineering practice. The company works on a range of projects that tend to attract high profile and prestigious developments, where clients have come to expect a tailored solution that combines excellence and value with elegance and vitality.
Role
The successful candidate will produce Electrical Tender Designs from Client Brief as necessary using computer software suite and Microsoft Word and Excel. Attend Site Meetings and Client Meetings as necessary. Undertake Electrical Site Surveys within the UK. Promote the level of technical excellence relating to mechanical or electrical engineering within the team. Prepare and issue Reports, inclusive of Budget Costing, Feasibility Studies etc. Estimate and Budgets, select and services and specify materials/equipment Liasing with Contractors, inspecting works, agreeing variations and final account Represent the company at meetings occasionally, acting as liaison for the office for electrical and lift services.
The position will be working alongside other Senior Electrical Engineers reporting into Associate level.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally: Possess up to 10 years experience + of working as a Electrical Design Engineer within an existing M&E consulting practice or with the design department of a contracting company with a reputable background. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Heavacomp, IES, TAS or Cymap. The candidate should have good knowledge of British and European Standards, Building Regulations documents and HTMs.
The successful candidate will be a good team player, motivated and will hold a degree in the relevant discipline or hold relevant qualifications. The candidate should ideally have a mechanical or electrical building services degree, be a Chartered Engineer, with full membership of either CIBSE, IMechE or IET, or looking to become chartered in the next 2 years, although candidates with a HNC or HND with suitable design and/or contracting experience will also be considered.
Confident with passive building design from both an environmental and energy efficiency perspective. Knowledgeable of specification and incorporation of various renewable technologies. Ideally be a Low Carbon Consultant. Good high level understanding of thermal modelling.
