An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Project Manager from either a client side, consultancy or PQS background to join a leading Leisure Company.
Based out of offices in South East London you will be working on Capital Works Projects consisting of new build, refurbs and fit out Leisure projects across the country ranging in value from £100K to £5million. You must have experience of managing multiple projects at anyone time and live within a commutable distance of South West London.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
-The management of a diverse programme of Projects comprising major and minor capital, revenue and funded projects including building and refurbishment works involving the new build, refurbishment and upgrade of the estate and infrastructure.
-Develop and review of policy regarding capital works. Develop, plan and prioritise a number of multistranded simultaneous complex building/refurbishment projects from initial design work through to completion and post project evaluation. This involves liaison with other departments, agencies and stakeholders (internal and external) and the development and writing of feasibility studies, option appraisals and business cases for projects.
-Complex planning, adjustment and formulation of projects, including coordinating start/finish dates with all relevant parties, including phasing as appropriate, to minimise disruption and impact on operational services.
-Design and planning of work to meet clients' requirements and current legislation and organising and coordinating a broad range of building/engineering activities to meet agreed programmes.
-Obtain, collate, manage, control and review budget costings, issue schedules of work for quotations and tenders in relation to agreed project works and provide technical guidance to the organisation at a strategic level and to users and clinical teams as appropriate.
-Evaluate potential sites and/or condition of existing locations for the purpose of determining construction and/or renovation and refurbishments requirements and ensuring that locations decided upon meet all project needs, requirements and specifications.
-Inspecting all aspects of construction (e.g. exterior, interior, walls, electrical, roof, concrete, paint, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and local codes and ordinances.
-Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. architectural publications, material samples, district directives, job related communications, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
-Monitors project activities (e.g. costs, time and materials, schedules, budgets, change orders, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring divisional objectives are achieved within budget and timeframes and in compliance with established requirements.
-Prepares written materials (e.g. correspondence, business/work plan up-dates, budgets, costs, bid invitations, calendars, schedules, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
-Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions on issues that relate to construction projects for the purpose of providing information and/or direction for making decisions within the district construction program.
-Serves as a critical friend and/or internal representative in a variety of meetings (e.g. planning, community, vendor, etc) for the purpose of conveying and receiving information related to assigned projects and activities.
-Act as Asbestos named person including the significant technical knowledge needed for this.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
-Must be able to negotiate successfully with a range of professionals and to be able to motivate external teams to achieve completion of projects within various constraints.
-Experience working across geographic and functional boundaries, coordinating networks of employees and initiatives
-Previous experience of project management
-Educated to degree level (or equivalent) preferably in a building or engineering related discipline, along with significant technical experience which demonstrates an ability to fulfil the full range of job requirements.
-Evidence of continuous personal development (CPD) activity over the past 5 years.
-Membership of an appropriate professional body / Institution such as the Association of Project Managers
-Registered as a professional engineer/licensed architect
-PRINCE 2 project manager to practitioner standard
-Asbestos management training to examination standard P402 and P405 preferred
-Valid Driver's License & Evidence of Insurability
-Must be able to travel between sites (UK wide), include some over night stays, and offer a flexible approach to all tasks.
