We have an exciting opportunity within the Capita Symonds Civil Engineering team for a Geotechnical Engineer to work on a number of high profile exciting infrastructure projects.
You will be joining the successful Geotechnical team who are currently providing design services on a variety of major infrastructure projects in the highway, rail and tunnelling sectors within the UK as well as internationally. You will bring your experience in the design of road and / or rail related infrastructure projects and develop your career within a progressive and supportive environment.
You will be responsible for managing design teams and mentoring junior staff while driving the business unit forward.
Essential Requirements
Civil Engineering related degree, BEng level minimum
Chartered, or currently pursuing chartership
Relevant postgraduate experience with consultants and / or contractors
Capabilities in a range of geotechnical analysis software for foundations, deep excavations, retaining structures and slopes
Thorough understanding of geotechnical design principles and their relevant applications
Desired Requirements
MSc in geotechnical engineering or equivalent
Experience with main contractors on major Design & Build infrastructure projects
Familiarity and use of Eurocodes and other international design standards
Keen to participate within industry Institutions, Forums or Societies.
Ability to understand, investigate and embrace new design philosophies, technologies or construction techniques applicable to geotechnical engineering
Rail experience
Clean UK driving licence
The candidate will be expected to work within teams of specialists and to supervise graduate engineers and technicians in preparing geotechnical design solutions for major civil engineering works. Projects include highway, railway and other infrastructure schemes at preliminary, tender, and detailed design stages. The candidate will have a degree of autonomy, commensurate with experience, in providing geotechnical design input to selected projects, whilst on others the candidate will work within a team under the instruction of a more senior team member.
