Although the further after-shocks inChristchurchover the Christmas period have added to the delays with the rebuild the focus still remains on the second half of 2012 for the rebuild to begin in earnest. Both civil and construction contractors are looking at potential upcoming work and looking to secure contracts to be started later this year.
Currently the new spatial plans for the city is being developed and with it a realistic understanding of the project in hand.New Zealandalready has a significant number of construction professionals but it's clear that once the rebuild begins that number won't be enough. Our clients have made it clear that although they have the personnel to deal with their current workload they will be found wanting when work really starts to pick up.
Although the second half of the year seems a long way off it will be on us quickly and those candidates putting their hands up now will be the most prepared and subsequently most ideally suited for the roles as they start to appear.
Supervisors/Foremen with civil experience will be in big demand once the major projects start to come online. Much of the current patched up work will have to be completely rebuilt with significant focus in the water, road and structures being most prominent. Supervisors/Foremen with experience in these areas, or a wider exposure to civil work, will be offered challenging and exciting roles in the reconstruction of the city. Projects will range value from $1million upwards so experience of small or large projects will be welcome.
There will be opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience whilst at the same time continuing the development of your career and ultimately grow within your sector. You will be part of a team including engineers and trade specialists and you will work closely with Site of Project Managers on a regular basis depending on the size of the project.
Those successful will be offered a salary and package in line with the local market regardless of the type of contract secured. Applications now will allow you to be in the key position when the roles are announced later in the year. If you wish to be considered for the role above, or any other construction position, then please send an updated and detailed copy of your CV and we'll be back in touch.
