Our client seeks a contract Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join them in West Sussex as soon as possible. The role is for a minimum of 6 months but could run for a couple of years. You must be either chartered or working towards being chartered and will be joining the successful Geotechnical team who are currently providing design services on a variety of major infrastructure and civils projects in the highway, rail and tunnelling sectors within the UK as well as internationally. You will have relevant geotechnical design experience offer support within the geotechnical team while developing your career within a progressive and supportive environment. You will be responsible for managing design teams and mentoring junior staff while driving the business unit forward.
Required:- Civil Engineering related degree, BEng level minimum: MSc in geotechnical engineering or equivalent; Chartered, or currently pursuing chartership; Significant relevant postgraduate experience with consultants and / or contractors , probably of around 5 to 10 years; Capabilities in a range of geotechnical analysis software for foundations, deep excavations, retaining structures and slopes; Thorough understanding of geotechnical design principles and their relevant applications; Experience with main contractors on major Design & Build infrastructure projects; Familiarity and use of Eurocodes and other international design standards; Active within industry Institutions, Forums or Societies Keen to understand, investigate and embrace new design philosophies, technologies or construction techniques applicable to geotechnical engineering; Rail experience plus a Clean UK driving licence. The candidate will be expected at times to supervise the work of engineers, graduate engineers and technicians. Projects include the preparation of geotechnical design solutions for major civil engineering works for highway, railway and other infrastructure schemes at preliminary, tender, and detailed design stages. The successful candidate will have a degree of autonomy in providing geotechnical design input to selected projects, whilst on others the candidate will work within a team under the instruction of a more senior team member. Good team player within a multi-disciplinary environment, but able to work on own initiative and under pressure when necessary. Good communicator at all levels, both verbally and in writing. Ability to convey information accurately with attention to detail. Willing to learn and develop new and existing skills. Proficient in discussing technical issues in non-technical language with clients, non-geotechnical colleagues and graduates. Ability to deal with clients in a friendly, efficient and effective way. Financially aware.
