Further information

Such is the size of the rebuild in Christchurch that much of the work is still in a preparatory stage. Most assessments now see the major work starting in 2012/13 and with it the need for a significant number of construction professionals. As frustrating as the situation is the reality is that with Christmas getting close the New Year is the realistic time for projects to really get moving.

Currently the new spatial plan for the city is being developed and with it a realistic understanding of the project in hand. New Zealand already has a significant number of construction professionals but it's clear that once the rebuild begins that number won't be enough. Positions most in demand will include;

    • Site Engineers
    • Project Engineers
    • Site Managers
    • Project Managers
    • Construction Managers
    • Quantity Surveyors
    • Estimators

Depending on the need some positions will be permanent whilst others may be long term permanent contract ranging from 3 to 5 years. The range of experience will be wide and varied and as such those from the following disciplines are encouraged to apply;

    • Commercial Construction
    • Residential Construction
    • Government Construction
    • Interiors

Those successful will be offered a salary and package in line with the local market regardless of the type of contract secured. Applications now will allow you to be in the key position when the roles are announced in 2012. If you wish to be considered for one of the roles above, or any other construction position, then please send an updated and detailed copy of your CV and we'll be back in touch.
