Further information

  • Deliver innovative design and building services solutions
  • Support the success of ground-breaking projects
  • Maximise cost-effectiveness, innovation and efficiency
  • Help us transform Britain’s rail network

With a billion passengers a year and rising, Britain’s railway faces more challenges than ever. It’s our job to meet them. As we manage and improve thousands of miles of track, signals, bridges and travel crossings, we deliver projects that are literally changing Britain, and their impact is visible to everyone. To successfully control and manage these projects, we need a dedicated, expert team that’s focused on delivering both efficiency and value.

That’s where our Infrastructure Projects business unit comes in. Its work enables us to keep the rail network running smoothly, while continually improving it, and it’s closely aligned to all of our ten routes. Join us in this area and you’ll add your proven skills to a multidisciplinary team, which works across our wide-ranging Operational Property portfolio, developing initial design proposals up to the preparation of detailed drawings.

Working closely with internal and external clients, as well as with our Project Engineers, you’ll come up with design and building services solutions that underpin our work and meet our business needs. It’s a challenge that’ll see you preparing concept, feasibility, single option and detailed design proposals - and then taking responsibility for their development. Through your work, you’ll enable us to deliver schemes that are cost-effective, innovative and highly successful. And you’ll use your skills to help us transform Britain’s rail network.

You’ll need:

  • Degree-level qualification in engineering (electrical or building services)
  • Experience of developing design solutions for schemes in the rail industry
  • Specific experience of working on building and operational property projects
  • Knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD & Amtech
