A Senior Production Engineer is required to be based in Calgary, Alberta.

The role of the position is to provide high quality production technological support to the appraisal, development and reservoir management of the Company assets as assigned by the Chief Petroleum Engineer from time to time. The incumbent will also be required to assist with new business development activities, functional initiatives, training and managing technical work carried out by specialist consultancies.

The position would be in a newly forming centre-of-excellence group in Calgary to primarily support participation in shale gas developments. Our client is also creating an operationally focussed multi-disciplinary team in the Calgary office. This position is in the centre-of-excellence team with the aim of support of the operations and projects team as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree Petroleum or Chemical engineering. Alternatively a degree in a mathematical or physics-oriented subject with appropriate experience could also be considered.
MSc or PhD in Petroleum Engineering is desirable.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required. Fluency in written and spoken use of the English language is required. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
Current and up to date software capability using office and collaborative applications is required.
Ability to work alone under own initiative, or in close collaboration with geoscientists, reservoir engineers and drilling engineers as part of a team is required.

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in well and reservoir performance monitoring and data acquisition. Understanding of the physical constraints applicable to well/reservoir/field production (e.g. sand, water, gas production, scaling potential, corrosion potential) is required. Capability to analysis and predict the well behaviour is necessary. Specific experience relating to horizontal wells and multi-fracked well completions would be an advantage.
Current expertise using the latest well modelling software (e.g. PROSPER/GAP/MBAL) is required. Experience in integrated asset modelling, flow assurance modelling, production log interpretation, well testing software, stimulation design and simulation software would be an advantage.
Experience of unconventional resources (shale gas, tight gas sands, coal bed methane) operations and studies is required.

REQUIRED OUTPUTS: FUNCTIONAL
Detail understanding of well performance, potential prediction and deliverability issues. Capabilities to participate in detailed and integrated study, design and monitoring of wells located in operated and non-operated fields
Understanding of well completion and capability to prepare high level design (gauges, sleeves, gas-lift valves, sand control) with knowledge of tubing stress analysis under different well operating environments. Provide sound production technology input during the multi-discipline well planning process to ensure a safe, optimal and cost effective well design and construction programme.
Understanding of the reservoir, petroleum engineering and operational issues from sand face to sales or processing point. Carry out studies and provide production technological input into acreage evaluation, prospect evaluation, appraisal planning, reservoir development studies and field development plans
Expertise in well stimulation particularly fracturing technology. Build knowledge of horizontal well completions in gas shales and coal beds, particularly relating to multi-fracked wells.
