Job purpose
Our client offers a unique opportunity to support one of the most challenging and complex operational RAF Airbases, located some 8,000 miles from UK support functions on The Falkland Islands.
They deliver the full spectrum of facilities services necessary to support an operational and self-sufficient military base, which also acts as an operational base for civil aircraft. We're looking for a strong, dynamic commercial leader to work closely with operations and our client, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), to effectively manage risk, prevent fraud and commercially protect the business on the Islands.
Responsibilities
Provide strong focused commercial leadership, management and support to the overall team on the Falkland Islands.
Develop a strong professional commercial team locally and oversee training and personal development within that team.
Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all stakeholders
Develop an influence strategy and work collaboratively.
Develop monthly contract value reports.
Prepare and review budgets and forecasts for submission to Senior Management in the UK
Draft response to contract enquiries/queries from DIO.
Draft guidance notes on contract terms/qualifications for review with Senior Commercial Manager
Review and develop procedures and financial controls to monitor labour, plant, material and sub-contractor costs.
Review and develop procedures and financial controls to monitor and control debt.
Manage contract risk.
Support fraud prevention on the contract and chair the local Fraud Prevention Steering Committee meetings.
Foresee potential commercial issues. Resolve these issues proactively and positively.
Understand complex commercial issues and provide briefing to Senior Management in the UK.
Achieve PADP agreed objectives.
Any other duties that may arise from time to time at the discretion and direction of the General Manager, Senior Commercial Manager in support of the financial and commercial function on the contract.

QS or legal qualification.
Extensive post qualified experience in similar commercial role.

Competent and confident with the appropriate knowledge and experience to complete tasks on time and accurately.
Alert, assertive, enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work without supervision.
It is a 2 year tour based in the Falklands. 6 months on 1 month off (27 months in total)
