The Job:
Two positions have arisen for Ram Borers / Millers to join the existing team of Machinists in the heavy Machine Shop manufacturing large cast and forged components . This is a relatively new machine shop with 3 new machines including a large Gantry Mill and 2 Retrofit machines giving a total of 5 machines.

The Duties:
The main duties will be to manufacture large castings up to and above 300 tonnes in weight and large diameter forgings using the above technology. These components are for large projects and on the casting side these mainly focus around Rolling Mill structures and offshore work however a variety of different components are manufactured. On the forging side a variety of products are manufactured including Nuclear and pressure Vessel work.
The main operating systems used within the department are Siemans 840D and Heidenhain 530.

The successful candidate will be working a 3 shift pattern, hours of work are currently:
06:00 - 13:18, 13:00 - 20:18, 20:00 - 06:18

The Person
To be considered for the position it is essential that you have the following:
Apprentice trained in Machining
Previous experience in the machining of large castings and forgings would be a distinct advantage
Ability to read, interpret and machine from complex engineering drawings
Working knowledge of modern tooling
A solid technical background
Team working ability
Resilience and tenacity
Ability to work on their own initiative
Have a flexible attitude to manufacturing
