Due to an expanding workload with some their major clients they are currently seeking an ambitious and dynamic Senior Consultant to join their Geo Environmental team in London.
The successful applicant would be responsible for project management of a range of geo-environmental projects to include the design, management and implementation of investigation, geotechnical and contaminated land design, construction and post-construction monitoring. The work will include desk and feasibility studies, interpretive reporting and design of earthworks, foundations and retaining structures, as well as mentoring of junior staff.
Description Role and Responsibilities
Produce factual and interpretive geo-environmental desk study, ground investigation and verification reports by undertaking both office and site based work, including soil and rock logging, soil and groundwater sampling and in-situ testing;
Develop or be able to complete human health risk and groundwater assessment utilising some or all of the following: CLEA, ConSim, RBCA, SNIFFER, BP RISC and EA Remedial Targets for Hydrogeological Risk Assessment;
Complete the design aspects of geotechnical and contaminated land investigation and provide geotechnical design advice on earthworks, foundations and retaining structures;
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures;
Manage health and safety on site;
Supervision of contractors and undertaking routine monitoring during ground investigations and construction programmes;
Manage small to medium sized projects, to include financial management;
Assist in the development of graduate staff;
Preparation of detailed design of contaminated land earthworks and remediation schemes;
Have a sound understanding of relevant geotechnical and contaminated land British Standards, industry guidance documents and legislation;
Complete fee proposal preparation for future work;
Build on relationships with clients and potential clients;
Develop client networking and business development skills; and
Assist in general marketing on behalf of the Company and develop customer relationships.
Qualifications Required
Qualified to degree level, preferably to MSc level, in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a relevant geo-environmental science, alongside evidence of continuing Professional Development.
Full Membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable.
Experience Required
Previous experience in managing ground investigation, geotechnical design and/ or risk assessment and remediation projects in a Geo-Environmental Consultancy background is preferred.
