Further information

When you can move to a country with a more stable economy, providing opportunities to get involved in career defining projects and knowing that your contribution will make a real difference to an entire city's rebuild, why wouldn't you? Furthermore, while at the same time offering you a better lifestyle, better climate, sensational beaches, awesome ski slopes, and simply more access to whatever you want to do in your spare time - again why wouldn't you?

The rebuild of Christchurch (which is growing by the day - NZ$30Billion) is offering career defining and humanitarian opportunities for experienced tertiary qualified Structural Engineers with priority given in the first instance to those with previous seismic design experience.

International experts (as well as the head of Lloyd's brokers) have all been shocked by the scale of destruction. Nothing like this has been seen before, but because the city was well insured, the whole place will be rebuilt from the ground up. This includes close to 3000 commercial buildings and 15,000 homes. Luckily the money for this project is being provided by the Government Earthquake Commission fund and international reinsurers.

So- not only will the projects be career defining but you will also make a significant humanitarian contribution and in the process gaining awesome international exposure, and of course, ride out the recession in style as the projects will roll on for around 10 years!

Clearly local experience would be ideal, but in reality we are going to need plenty of additional help. We are seeking Structural Engineers with advanced design skills in low-rise, hi-rise residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, complemented by exceptional project management and business development skills to work in a variety of roles nationwide. Christchurch may not be your first choice, which is not a problem; the amount of work stemming from the Christchurch rebuild means that many of the projects will be delegated to other offices, so there are plenty of locations throughout the country to choose from.

To top it all you get to live in an awesome country whose main city is ranked 4th best quality of life in the world. Does this sound refreshingly different to your situation now?
