One of our clients, a Major International Operator is seeking a Drilling Manager to join their team in Calgary, AB.
As the principal authority for the North American Onshore drilling, completion and work over activities this position is responsible and accountable for planning, executing and controlling the Company's own Drilling, Completion and Well Intervention operations.
o Manage the organization's operated drilling activities throughout the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin
o Provide technical support and guidance to other operating areas as required or considered appropriate
o Identify, specify and design a plan of action for acquiring the required skills, services, equipment and procedures to allow the drilling & completions activities to be efficiently conducted
o Determine the requirements and work scope for contractors and service companies for all Drilling and Completions operations and lead the selection process
o Manage, monitor and audit all activities related to operated drilling activities and initiate corrective actions to ensure the safe, cost effective and technically successful execution of the operations.
o Accountable for capital and expense spend incurred through well operations, and safety performance.
o Responsible and accountable for implementing EH&S policies, procedures, practices and standards in respect to all Well Operations, and for ensuring their effectiveness.
o Actively support and promote the Company's Safety Management System and EH&S standards.
o Responsible for Drilling and Completions emergency response.
o Responsible for hiring of operations and technical staff
o Responsible for the professional training and development of both technical and operational staff
Education and Experience:
o Technical Degree, preference Engineering
o 15+ yr. all round functional experience
o Significant knowledge of Drilling, Completions and Workover Operations
o Significant knowledge of Drilling, Completions and Workover Engineering methods and solutions
Skills and Knowledge:
o Demonstrated knowledge of Well Control Operations.
o Demonstrated abilities and understanding of risk management
o Demonstrated leadership, business and interpersonal skills.
o Good working knowledge of regulatory requirements for the WCSB
o Excellent Communication skills
o Travel to the UK and Norway for peer reviews on well designs a job requirement
