We are looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner to join our team and lead projects for our key clients.

CH2M has an impressive and thriving Transport Planning business in the West Midlands, with the responsibility of delivering a wide range of project work for strategic and local authority public sector clients. Our Clients include Highways England, HS2 and a number of local authorities through Frameworks such as Bristol City Council and Worcestershire County Council.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner to join our team and lead projects for our key clients.


Job Responsibilities include:

• Technical contributions to projects throughout the UK
• Training and mentoring of team members
• Undertake research and analysis
• Prepare planning appraisals of land, buildings and concepts
• Prepare planning applications, including planning statements
• Preparation of appeal and Inquiry documents
• Liaise with and attend meetings with clients, planning officers, employees of consultee organisations and third parties
• Ensure compliance with planning regulations
• Develop creative and original solutions to satisfy all parties
• Maintain an awareness of market conditions and the impact of government policies
• Preparation of tender responses
• Undertaking evidence base studies (housing assessments, employment land reviews, infrastructure assessments etc.)
• Preparation of strategy and policy documents


Minimum Qualifications


• A relevant planning degree
• Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
• Relevant post qualification experience in a planning role, ideally in both the public and private sectors
• A sound, in-depth knowledge of planning law and procedures, including the planning system at national, regional and local levels
• Experience in the management and delivery of multi-disciplinary planning projects
• Excellent project management skills for multi-disciplinary projects
• Proven ability to manage budgets


The Individual

The successful applicant must be flexible and self-motivated and be expected to demonstrate the following:

• Good communication skills, with ability to draft reports to a high standard
• Ability to work under pressure, and have proven success in meeting tight deadlines
• Confident team worker, but able to work with limited supervision
• Commercial awareness and business development skills
• Flexibility to work in other UK offices according to workload demands
• Full clean driving licence (preferable)


This role is only open to applicants able to accept local employment contract conditions and not expatriate employment terms. Please note that this role is only considering applications with valid working rights for the UK, CH2M will not sponsor an employment visa to fill this position.
