Transport Planning Technical Director

HeadNorth are proud to partner with our client in the search for a Technical Director to head up a critical part of their business.

Operating as a team manager and reporting into the head of function for the region, the successful candidate will support the technical delivery of an exceptionally broad and diverse portfolio of work across the highways transportation planning services provision.

Working in a client facing and team mentoring capacity, you will be involved in the development of transport planning strategies, implementation of a variety of techniques in order to deliver the client’s agenda. Acting as a technical leader, you will be accountable for the growth of a team and the mentoring, development and influencing of others working at both local and national levels where needed in order to appropriately resource each project.

Experience of both public sector framework contracts and private sector technical delivery would be advantageous. Individuals looking for a first step as a technical director are encouraged to apply for consideration in addition to those looking for a broad and diverse role operating currently at TD level.

Key responsibilities:

Engaging with internal, external and client stakeholders in the pursuit of project objectives

Providing technical support on a range of projects from smaller schemes through to multi-million pound major projects

Supporting the growth and mentoring of a team

Ensuring compliance with industry, internal and compliance regulations

Providing a robust approach to budgetary and quality management considerations

Cultivating excellent relationships across the organisation

Our client is seeking:

An individual with extensive transport planning experience

Ideally degree qualified in a relevant discipline

Experience in transport modelling, sustainable and intelligent transport systems, strategic design and development planning along with technical leadership and operations management exposure.

Experience of managing the utilisation of various transport modelling systems

Strong communication, client interfacing and report writing skills

It would be advantageous to be a chartered engineer / professionally recognised projects manager
