Join our Managed Growth & Communities Directorate and you will help us to keep people moving safely, efficiently and sustainably through these changes and beyond. To succeed and progress in our dynamic environment, you will have a broad range of skills, a flexible approach and experience of working collaboratively with delivery partners.

As part of our multidisciplinary Projects Team, and you will design, maintain and supervise the delivery of public and privately funded highway improvement projects. 

We’re the Local Flood Authority, so the diverse Flood Risk Management & Highway Drainage role will see you liaising with customers and partners to resolve flooding issues and working with developers on planning applications. We’ll also look to you to design and project manage highway drainage improvement schemes while leading our in-house Tanker Services team, responsible for the highway drainage assets.

The Highway Management & Sustainable Travel role will see you designing, implementing and project managing the delivery of a variety of minor highway improvement schemes and permanent and temporary traffic regulation orders. You will also provide technical support to the council’s Major Development Schemes as part of a multidisciplinary team.

For all three roles you will need a degree or HND in a construction-related subject together with the proven project management and ICT skills to ensure that the service or projects are delivered to scope. For both the Projects Team role and the Highway Management & Sustainable Travel role you will have excellent GIS and AutoCAD skills. For the Flood Risk Management & Highway Drainage you will have strong people management skills. Your experience will include supervising site teams and solving design and construction problems.
