Health & Safety Advisor/Manager for Residential Project in Central London

Health & Safety Advisor/Manager required with Main Contractor for a 23 storey residential project in Canary Wharf

About the Company: SSA are recruiting on behalf of a Main Contractor who have been covering residential, commercial, industrial and educational projects for both private and public sector clients in London for over 30 yrs. Successful projects range from small residential developments for Housing Associations to multi million pound high-class new build and refurbishment contracts for private clients.

The role will be a full-time site based role with visits to head office when required.

About the Role & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Construction Stage Plans in consultation and agreement with the Directors & Contracts Managers.
  • Monitor all Acts & Regulations that impinge on the Safety, Health & Welfare of the Company’s operations and update the Safety Statement / Construction Plans as necessary.
  • Monitor all aspects of Safety, Health & Welfare within the company on site.
  • Advise the Directors on the implementation of the Safety Statement and any revisions made thereafter.
  • Ensure that employees training requirements are identified prior too new projects commencing.
  • Conduct Safety Audits on all sites.
  • Investigate all accident, incidents and dangerous occurrences that may occur on site. Establish the cause and nature of the incident implementing preventative action to avoid re-occurrences.
  • Ensure that the Company Site Safety Management Folders are submitted to site and maintained throughout the duration of the project.
  • Ensure that a Safety Representative is elected and once elected that the Safety Rep is given full co-operation including adequate time to carry out their duties for adequate training.
  • Liaise with Site Management & Subcontractors to ensure and agree the appropriate control measures for their works are planned, implemented and enforced.
  • Consult and liaise with the Health & Safety Authority and their inspectors as and when required.
  • Ensure that an adequate number of trained First Aiders are on site during the project.
  • Prepare and issue an annual Safety Report on all Health & Safety Issues. Organise and attend a meeting to discuss findings.
  • Advise the Project Manages on action required where improvement notices, prohibiting notices or prohibitions orders are served on the Company.

Salary dependent on candidate and experience (Salary Guide: £35-55k)
