Established in 1974,my client is a leading international software company specialising in civil and structural engineering design and detailing software. Their applications are used worldwide by consulting engineers, civil engineering contractors, builders, national and local governments, scaffolders, structural steelwork and rebar fabricators. The company employs more than 300 staff globally and have been in business for over 40 years. There are more than 5000 customers who use over 50,000 copies of their software in 70 countries.
The UK head office is based in Poole, Dorset, and a second office is in Woking, Surrey. This role can be based in either location.
Your new role
You will work alongside a team of experienced Civil and Structural Engineers in a Team leader role to support other members of staff in the development of the company software's. You will use your expertise from your career in the Civil and Structural Engineering sector to ensure the optimal performance of new products and be a key contact to the companies clients to support the optimal use of the Software applications as well as demonstrating its best uses.
This role will involve going into different client offices to assist their teams in the use of each design package as well as being involved with Business development and Technical Support to ensure timely problem solving.
The suitable candidate will have enjoyed working as an Engineer but also have a strong desire to develop their commercial interests and ambitions by switching from the conventional career path to one with a developer and supplier of sophisticated software solutions. You will enjoy exploiting your engineering education and experience to the full to help Consulting Engineers and other Structural Design professionals to understand and purchase the best software solutions. You will develop a professional consultative approach to your business affairs and will wish to be considered a 'trusted advisor' to your clients.
The successful applicant will be a graduate civil / structural with several years of experience in the design of Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steelwork building structures and be thoroughly conversant in the use of the relevant codes of practice and at least one leading software application. A working knowledge of the CAD range of structural design software and BIM would be an advantage but not essential.
