Contracts Manager for leading Highways Maintenance contractor 

Job Description:

This long established business has an excellent reputation for providing reliable, high quality services to private and public sector customers and is entering a new and exciting phase of development.

You will be responsible for the delivery of high volume, low value road maintenance and repair works (reactive/planned maintenance and emergency) under a contract with a large local authority Client. The services are delivered largely through sub- contractors, with five permanent staff reporting to the job holder.

The Role:

  • Overall responsibility for short/medium term planning and organisation of all resources.
  • Ensuring that services are carried out to quality standards and in keeping with Client KPIs
  • Ensuring that costs are controlled in line with the budget
  • Managing all aspects of Health and Safety in the workplace and liaising with Local Authority managers.
  • Play a lead role in growing the business by identifying opportunities to provide additional and new services
  • Building and maintaining positive relations with the client, ensuring good communication and formal reporting as required to the Executive Team,
  • Attending internal and external meetings.

The Person:

  • Proven skills in managing outsourced Local Authority service contracts for e.g. road/housing maintenance, FM, Waste Management/Refuse Collection/Environmental, Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing or similar
  • Able to provide sound leadership to a team of managers/supervisors to provide high standards of service
  • Previous experience of budget preparation and control
  • Excellent 'hands-on organisation skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Commercially astute
  • Able to deal professionally and credibly with the general public and with senior local authority officers.
