Full Time

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 10. The salary range will be Competitive, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Director of Estates Development reports to the Director of UCL Estates and leads on all issues relating to the strategic development of the Estate, space management and the delivery of capital programmes/projects across the UCL estate.

A member of the Estates Leadership Team providing leadership and management of the Estates Division as a whole and its relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders.

The Director of Estates Development is responsible for:

o Leading strategic development opportunities for the UCL Estate.

o Leading Estate Planning and Space Management.

o Lead the delivery and coordination of the 10 year £1.2 billion estates capital programme across the UCL Estate.

o Contribute to the development of policy, strategy and practice to ensure an estate fit for purpose to deliver excellence in research and teaching, providing legal and regulatory compliance and meeting other relevant institutional priorities including safety, cost efficiency, effectiveness and environmental sustainability.

The successful candidate will possess significant relevant leadership experience in estates strategic planning and space management, project and programme leadership including procuring and managing complex projects and programmes from inception to completion in fully operational, high public footfall environments likely to be found in congested urban areas.

Outstanding leadership and management skills, a high level of commercial acumen and with exceptional communication and negotiating skills. A highly experienced senior manager able to demonstrate success in similarly complex environments. Relevant high level technical knowledge of estate planning, space management and change management.
