Reporting to: Construction Programme Manager

Job Overview
To lead and manage construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and meet the agreed Clients' quality requirements.

Main Duties will include:-
Being customer friendly, methodical and highly organised.

Using modern technologies, workspaces and methods of working which will result in providing a customer focused and efficient service.

Managing and delivering construction projects/programmes using the corporate project methodology and best practice in order to ensure that projects meet time, budgets and quality requirements of the clients.
The projects will be medium value and fairly complex.

Setting up effective project governance and producing project management documentation, ensuring effective project reporting and delivery.

Identifying, assessing and managing project risks and issues, to include the use of change
control, development of contingency plans and exception reporting.

Key Decision Making:-
Project management decisions as agreed by the Project Board.

Responsibility for total project cost and budget management decisions as agreed by the Project Board.

Creating and allocating project tasks to officers outside the direct line managers' areas of responsibility.

Appointment of external technical experts as and when required for project completion.

Negotiate and agree corrective action with contractor to mitigate risk.

Escalation to Project Board if time, budgets or quality is outside agreed parameters.

Contacts & Other Relationships:-
Clients, Stakeholders, Surveyors, Engineers and Architects.
Clerk of Works, Quantity Surveyors, Contractors and Project Managers.
Assets and Health & Safety Teams.
There will be no direct line management responsibility other than the management of contractors and individual projects with values up to c. £7m.

Person Attributes & Qualities
Degree level education or equivalent in a construction related subject. E.g. Construction Technology, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and/or full membership of a professional construction related organisation.

Project Management Qualification is highly desirable.

Project management of construction projects.
