The RNLI provides a 24-hour lifeboat service from 238 stations and a seasonal lifeguard service on 220 beaches around the coast of the UK, ROI and the Isle of Man.

The infrastructure which these essential services depend on include; Lifeboat Stations, Shops, Slipways, Launch Ramps, Moorings, Pontoons and all other key infrastructure required to ensure the we maintain our 24-hour lifeboat service. They are in challenging, remote and exposed locations, requiring a continuous programme of inspection, maintenance, installation and improvement.

The role of Coastal Infrastructure Engineer plays an integral part in supporting our lifesaving service through the safe, efficient and effective management of this unique and diverse infrastructure.  You will have significant responsibility for an operational portfolio including the requirement to accurately assess condition, specify and procure planned and emergency maintenance works, and monitor contractor performance against safety, quality and cost criteria. 

The portfolio includes Lifeboat Stations, Slipways, Launch Ramps, Mooring, Pontoons and all other key infrastructure required to ensure the we maintain our 24-hour lifeboat service.

Educated to BTec HND level and/or proven building construction/ civil engineering background, you will possess commercial and financial acumen, excellent IT and communication skills and the ability to work effectively at both strategic and operational levels.  This will be matched with a highly motivated, organised approach, a thorough understanding of current maintenance procedures and an embedded attitude towards Health and Safety practices and regulations.

The role is home based and will require travel to each of the locations within the portfolio for which a vehicle will be provided.  Working from home will require use of initiative and a can-do attitude, but also allows a flexible approach to the working week.

This position covers the coastline from Lyme Regis to Mudeford in Dorset, and the Channel Islands. The area contains 9 Lifeboat Stations and 28 Lifeguard Beaches.
