A Construction services company are looking to recruit a part time, freelance, Mechanical Services Surveyor. This position will sit within a local authority in Derbyshire as it will be working within a team on a local authority contract. This team look after all planned and reactive maintenance of non-housing stock, statutory compliance, and also get involved with new builds.
Your new role
You will be responsible for procuring and managing contractors to undertake planned and reactive maintenance works for a local authorities non-housing properties. Properties include; leisure centres, retail units, warehouses and other commercial units.
You will investigate defects and break downs and be responsible for undertaking remedial actions, carrying out stock condition surveys, diagnosing faults and recommending cost effective solutions. You will prepare specification and tender documents for all new installations, refurbishment and repairs work.
You will provide mechanical services advice and support for both new and restorative building projects, and will be in charge of liaising with the clients end users and subcontractors at all times ensuring excellent customer relations are built and maintained.
Although you will be predominantly office based you will be responsible for checking works are to plan on site, ensuring health and safety, budgets and time scales are adhered to. You will also be responsible for the health and safety of chain providers.
What you'll need to succeed
You must have a HNC in Building Services or an equivalent qualification alongside an IOSH or other H&S qualification, and You must be confident with checking, diagnosing and correcting complex mechanical services faults with experience working on pubic sector projects being preferable.
You will have the ability to design, specify and supervise all aspects of mechanical services repairs, maintenance and design works. You are required to have a strong knowledge of CDM regulations, British approved codes of practice, building regulations and appropriate regulations in respect of mechanical services instillation and testing regimes.
You must be confident with building and maintaining customer relationships and have a wealth of knowledge of organising, managing and implementing programmes of work.
