A Buyer role in London managing the materials and procurement practices for a high spec Contractor.

Your new company
A contractor with professional expertise and experience delivering a high quality construction service for a diverse catalogue of builds. The present portfolio is diverse and ranges from small extensions to multi storey, multi million pound developments. They provide a complete range of building and construction services, from Design & New Build, Residential to Commercial Refurbishment and Fit-out large house building and private clients alike.

Your new role
Ultimately you will set up process and manage the procurement department. You will be responsible for preparing detailed material schedules from design drawings and specification whilst working closely with designers, commercial managers and site managers to develop call-off schedules for sites. You will need to liaise with site managers to identify advance site material requirements and deal with on-going material requests. Deal swiftly with any delays obtaining replacements, credits or refunds when necessary whilst monitoring contract compliance. You will also ensure best value by undertaking price comparisons with suppliers, ensure credit control and accounts procedures are followed whilst keeping inventory quantities at an optimal level.

What you'll need to succeed
It is essential to have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a procurement or materials management role within the construction sector, ideally with a high end contractor. You will have demonstrable experience of delivering significant cost savings with strong negotiation skills. You will have an In-depth knowledge of building materials and the London construction market with a sound understanding of UK procurement regulations. You will also require a Full, clean UK driving licence.
