Role Overview:
Working as part of our Airside team at Manchester Airport on the Phase 1 expansion programme, you will carry out all site management functions allocated by the Site Manager within your capability, which will include short term planning. You will play your part in the team to ensure safe and efficient delivery of all construction operations and ensuring all works are fully compliant with GT's and MAG's procedures, standards and requirements. You will ensure line management is aware of any technical problems at the soonest opportunity and will be proactive in assisting to resolve such problems in a timely manner. Airside experience is preferred and advantageous but not essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise estimating, contracts team, sub-contractors and consultants on design solutions
  • Provide designs where we have design responsibility along with design checks
  • Assess contract specifications for onerous and anomalous conditions and advise consultants and management of alternatives
  • Advise design teams and estimators of alternative solutions showing savings in cost/time
  • Advise consultants and contract team on suitability of specified materials
  • Carry out random inspections on site to ensure construction work is being carried out in accordance with Specifications and Best Practice and bring any deviation to the attention of site management
  • Promotion of company to clients and their consultants by demonstrating a positive engineering competency
  • Support the Site Manager to ensure safe and efficient use of labour, plant and materials to achieve completion on time, to specification and within budget
  • Support he Site Manager and Planner with short term lookahead and As Built schedules as required
  • Liaise with the design team to ensure the design deliverables are received in time for efficient delivery of the site works
  • Support the Site Manager to ensure the correct materials and sub-contract services are procured in good time to meet contract objectives
  • Support the management of site teams by monitoring performance against contract targets and instigating any necessary corrective actions as directed by the Site Manager
  • Ensure full compliance with GT Health and Safety Policy and Procedures, enforce CBAB culture
  • Produce RAMS, conduct inductions, briefings etc. as instructed and within capability
  • Ensure Sub Contractors fully comply with GT Standards and Procedures

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Min HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and relevant professional qualification
  • Chartered or working towards related professional qualification
  • Practical experience of principal construction techniques
  • CSCS Card Holder
  • IOSH Environmental or SEATS
  • First Aid
  • TWC
  • Good communication skills; ability to communicate technical matters so they are put simply and are clearly understood
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
  • Quick to learn and strives for continuous improvement in everyday tasks
  • Understands the importance of meeting customer's needs
  • Flexible with the ability to solve problems and find solutions
  • Keen interest in construction and a willingness to progress within the industry
  • Ability to coach and mentor
  • Airside experience advantageous
