M&E Project Manager required for leading Rail sub-contractor for LUL/Network Rail projects

A respected Civil Engineering and Rail sub-contractor requires a M&E Project Manager with a proven track record within the Rail sector to join their team working on London Underground projects valued at up to £10m. 

The successful M&E Project Manager will ideally have specialist knowlegde of the regulations and procedures used by London Underground or Network Rail and will be able to deliver projects from the initial tender stage through to completion. 

Duties:

  • Formulate the scope of works and develop the design and tendering strategy
  • Provide best value engineering design solutions to technical problems.
  • Coordinate members of the design team to ensure the timely delivery of information, checking the work of other members of staff and providing assistance.
  • Issuing enquires to suitable sub-contractors as required by the project scope through to validation.
  • Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment such that designs consider the impact across all the relevant disciplines.
  • Provide sufficient information and support to enable technicians to produce detailed design drawings suitable for approval by the client.
  • Have a working knowledge of Statutory Regulations and Codes of Practice. A working knowledge of Network Rail Standards and Railway Group Standards is beneficial.
  • Produce written reports and specifications for works.
  • Undertake site visits and site surveys.
  • Attend design review meetings and progress meetings and act as the point of contact for the Client.
  • Coordinate the appointment of sub consultants/specialist contractors as necessary to complete the design process.
  • Perform the role of Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) for Design on rail-specific projects where suitable rail experience can be demonstrated.
  • Undertake site visits and site surveys.
  • Once in contract provide support and advise through to project compliance.
  • Provide assistance and support with handback information ensuring ultimate compliance with client’s expectations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering qualification 
  • Must have experience working in the Rail industry in the UK
