The new Mersey Gateway Bridge linking the towns of Runcorn and Widnes in Halton, Cheshire opened in October 2017 and more than 2 million journeys have been made in its first month of operation.
The Mersey Gateway Crossings Board Ltd (MGCB) is special purpose vehicle established by Halton Borough Council (HBC) with delegated authority to administer and oversee the operation and maintenance of the tolled Mersey Gateway Bridge together with its approach roads and the tolling of the Silver Jubilee Bridge.
MGCB's terms of reference and delegated authority are expressed in a Governance Agreement with HBC, set to last for sixty years. The MGCB's responsibilities include oversight of a tolling and maintenance concession business with annual turnover of circa £70m.
The appointed Managing Director will be the senior Executive Board Director and will be supported by the Finance Director in discharging the MGCB's fiduciary responsibilities. The post holder will lead on all Board issues working with senior executives in the private sector partner organisations.
