Role Overview:
The highways division is one of six business units that make up the Galliford Try Infrastructure entity. It delivers projects for national and local clients. This team has expanded in recent times as a result of a successfully delivering work for Highways England and a re-structuring of the business and now includes operations for Highways England, Local Authorities and Highways Maintenance.
We are looking for an experienced Planner to join a dedicated team to work on Highways England's flagship Smart Motorways programme which is being delivering via a joint venture between Galliford Try and Costain. We are improving the 37.9km (23.6 miles) section of the M1 between junctions 13 and 16, which passes through Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire and provides connections to the towns of Bedford, Milton Keynes and Northampton. This is a great opportunity for skilled Civil Engineering professionals to be part of a successful and growing division of Galliford Try.

Key Responsibilities:
· Updating the Detailed Design Programme (Pre-Construction Schedule) along with our designers in assurance of providing a robust and realistic schedule that reflects the risk and opportunity that could impact key project milestones
· Review and develop the preferred construction sequence considering project wide constraints to confirm the duration in the overall scheme schedule
· Facilitate construction readiness planning
· Arrange, facilitate and provide output from client and supply chain collaborative planning sessions
· Cost load the schedule
· Generate Earned Value Analysis from the cost loaded schedule
· Monthly updating of the schedule and reports
· Update and analyse the schedule based on the effects of Compensation events or other events which may affect the programme.
Experience and Qualifications:
· HNC, HND or Degree educated in Civil Engineering
· Technically skilled, effective and efficient in Primavera P6 Planning software
· Experience of working in a major highways project environment
· Ability to scrutinise design information and provide value adding input to ensure the optimum solutions are developed for the construction phase
· Civil Construction background
