Role Overview:
T he Highways Division is one of six business units that make up the Galliford Try Infrastructure entity. It delivers projects for national and local clients.
This team has expanded in recent times as a result of a successfully delivering work for Highways England and a re-structuring of the business and now includes operations for Highways England, Local Authorities and Highways Maintenance.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on one of our flagship projects - the Highways England M49 Avonmouth New Junction. The role will require you to work with a core dedicated team on site; as Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the execution of the Quantity Surveying function for the contract, fulfilling the requirements of the company in maximising quality of service and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial & Contractual -
Measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings) for Valuations, Variations & Final Accounts by preparing detailed, accurate and orderly measurements in accordance with relevant measurement standards.

Agreement of valuation dates and preparing, submitting and agreement of interim valuations in accordance with those dates.

Providing detailed record and valuation of work executed with application of principles of cash maximisation and issuing of draft invoices to Sales Ledger Department and advising of agreed valuations dates.

Measurement and valuation of subcontractors work for payment and Final Account purposes by agreement of subcontract valuations and completion of regular and timely payment certificates.
Recognising and advising Site Manager on delays, extensions of time and loss and/or expense and ensuring relevant notices are issued.

Ensuring adequate records are kept for the purposes of valuing variations and ascertaining loss and/or expense by maintaining records of resource allocation including labour plant and materials and reviewing subcontract correspondence for delay and loss and/or expense claims.
Preparation of claim documentation & information for submission to Clients/ Consultants within required timescales.

Satisfying Client deadlines for estimates and quotations whilst applying principles of profit maximisation and protecting Companies interests.

Preparation of tender enquiry documents for the procurement of subcontractors and assist with the subcontract buyers through to placement of order.

Understanding and advising on the terms and conditions of the main contract and also the subcontract, which may also include negotiation with the subcontractor for the agreement thereof.

Financial Reporting
Preparation of financial reports including:

Internal Valuations/CVRs and subcontract liability reports in accordance with schedule of accounting period end dates and deadlines
· Provision of standard reports (as per the Quantity Surveying Procedures Manual) for all reporting tasks and providing reports in accordance the agreed times and frequency.

Margin Analysis reports
· Provision of standard reports (as per the Quantity Surveying Procedures Manual) for all reporting tasks and providing reports in accordance the agreed times and frequency.

Commercial Analysis (final margin) forecasts and Cost to Complete forecasts
· Provision of standard reports (as per the Quantity Surveying Procedures Manual) for all reporting tasks and providing reports in accordance the agreed times and frequency.

Cash Flow forecasts
· Provision of standard reports (as per the Quantity Surveying Procedures Manual) for all reporting tasks and providing reports in accordance the agreed times and frequency.

Turnover forecasts
· Provision of standard reports (as per the Quantity Surveying Procedures Manual) for all reporting tasks and providing reports in accordance the agreed times and frequency.

De-brief reports
Provision of standard reports (as per the Quantity Surveying Procedures Manual) for all reporting tasks and providing reports in accordance the agreed times and frequency.
Experience and Qualifications:
· HNC, HND or Degree educated in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline).
· A contracting background within Civil Engineering - previous experience of roads and structures would be an advantage but not essential.
· A working knowledge of method of measurement for highways work is required together with experience of the NEC form of contract.
· Experience of Design and Build contracts.
· Ability to work on a National Level and as part of a multi-disciplined team.
The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills along with a pro-active approach to achieve pre-determined deadlines for monthly reporting on all of the commercial aspects associated with the contract.

We have a brilliant new opportunity for a Multi Skilled Engineer based primarily on the new North Hub FM contract, including sites predominantly in the Inverness, Foress and Tain area, with some travel further afield on occasion.

Role Overview:

  • The main purpose of the job is to undertake all other planned maintenance, reactive repairs and other tasks as directed by GTFM Operational Management and the Customer Support Centre.
  • To supervise and spot check the work of sub-contractors to ensure it is to a satisfactory standard and deal with reactive repairs of commercial mechanical and electrical building services and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned & reactive works in educational & leisure buildings, including minor works, repairs, fault finding and fault diagnosis. Ensuring all works are competently completed to high quality standards and in accordance with Galliford Try Health and Safety Standards, Clients Policies and Procedures.
  • Carry out basic building repair and maintenance including but not limited to: doors, floors, ceilings, windows, fixtures and fittings, changing of locks, door closers, basic plumbing etc.
  • To be fully conversant with all aspects of their qualified trade whether it be Electrical or HVAC
  • Compile quotes for works when required.
  • Attend any tasks issued which may include jobs for which the post holder is not qualified but has the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • To liaise with other GTFM staff and Sub-contractors as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed operational targets.
  • Check sub-contractor works to ensure they are of a satisfactory standard.
  • Order and organise the delivery of materials to site.
  • Schedule jobs to ensure they do not infringe upon the client's operations.
  • To accept progress and complete accurately all works allocated via a portable electronic device and update all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and building plans.
  • Working hours will be based on a rotational shift pattern and will include weekend work and participation in an on-call rota.
  • Attend meetings with other stake-holders including client, subcontractor and construction parties.
  • Participate in scheduled team meetings.
  • Drive between work locations and suppliers (Full lean driving licence required).
  • To act at all times in accordance with the Galliford Try rules, policies, procedures and financial regulations.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have relevant qualification in Electrical or HVAC field
  • Experience working in a building services role
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Time Served apprenticeship or Equivalent training in an Electrical or HVAC bias
  • Previous experience of working within a team
  • Good Written/verbal communication Skills
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to work requirements and willing to accept change
  • Full UK Driving license
