We are seeking a Project Manager with a strong understanding of Pre-Construction processes to join the team and be based at first from our Normanton offices in Wakefield. The successful candidate will be office-based to start with, ultimately moving to their own site-based role within the Yorkshire region; the role would therefore suit someone centrally based, within an area that could cover potential locations such as Hull, Leeds, Sheffield, York, etc., depending on the project won.

Role Overview:
The successful candidate will initially work alongside the Pre-Construction teams to support work-winning strategies and help identify suitable projects within the region at values of approximately £10-30M. You will then go on to develop this project through to completion and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Pre Construction

  • Work with the Bid & Pre-Construction teams to support work-winning strategies and develop regional project requirements
  • Be fully involved in the pre-construction stages of a project predominantly within the Education/Higher Education, Healthcare, MOJ and DIO sectors
  • Undertake all pre-construction health and safety planning.

Construction

  • Project delivery to all safety, cost and programme/quality targets working within the Galliford Try Delivering Excellence model. Snag free, On Time, RIDDOR free with a Delighted Client.
  • Marshalling of resources for the overall control and execution of the works including the selection and/or management of sub-contractors to carry out the works
  • Ensuring that key dates, resource requirements, production rates, overhead targets etc., are established, monitored and controlled
  • Managing multi disciplinary teams
  • Maintaining commercial and financial control systems, procedures and standards which will meet the contractual requirements of the project
  • Writing of client progress reports to a high standard
  • Will be supported by a site team; size and capability dependent upon project value/type

Experience and Qualifications:

  • You will ideally have experience of working within the Construction industry, specifically on Design and Build and Education/Higher Education/Healthcare/Defence and Ministry of Justice projects
  • You will have a proven track record and solid knowledge of pre-construction stages
  • You will have experience of working 2 stage tenders and NEC types of contract
  • You will hold a professional qualification HNC, ONC or equivalent
  • You will hold an appropriate CSCS Manager card
  • SMSTS as a minimum
  • You will have experience of working for a main contractor or strong regional contractor.
  • Good communication verbally and in written form.
  • Good understanding and implementation of GT BMS paperwork processes.
