Role Overview:

Highways is one of six business units that make up the Galliford Try Infrastructure Division. It delivers projects for national and local clients.
The team has expanded in recent times and with strong project performance along with successful work winning, we are continuing to build and re-structure the business including operations for Highways England, Local Authorities and Highway Maintenance.

This role will be working within our team dedicated to projects on behalf of Local Authorities, comprising of various road build, improvement and construction projects ranging from £1-£25M in value. We are and continue to deliver a to a wide array of interesting and complex roadwork and structures projects with a strong and ever growing portfolio providing excellent prospects and opportunity.
We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join a core team dedicated to a recent contract award- the Lincoln Eastern Bypass on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council. The role will require you to work with a core dedicated team on site; reporting into the Managing QS you will be responsible for commercial delivery and performance, fulfilling the requirements of the company and contract in maximising quality of service and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
You will take responsibility for the execution of the Quantity Surveying function on the contract with the view to maximise quality of service and profitability. You will be responsible for monthly reporting on all of the commercial aspects associated with the contract and you will contribute to weekly reviews of cost and value with monthly financial analysis and forecast meetings with the Management team. Key duties include:
  • Management of subcontracts
  • Sub contract procurement
  • Management of performance measures including KPI's
  • Responsible for forecasting and preparing cost to completions
  • Preparation of external applications for payment
  • Working closely with the Project Team on all commercial and contractual issues
  • Maximising the effectiveness of the commercial function
  • Managing contractual issues on the Project
  • Management of the risk process
  • Maximising profitability having regard to client/subcontractor relations

Experience and Qualifications:
· A strong Quantity Surveying background ideally degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
· A contracting background within Civil Engineering - previous experience of roads and structures would be an advantage but not essential.
· A working knowledge of method of measurement for highways work is required together with experience of the NEC form of contract.
· Experience of Design and Build contracts.
· Ability to work on a National Level and as part of a multi-disciplined team.
The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills along with a pro-active approach to achieve pre-determined deadlines for monthly reporting on all of the commercial aspects associated with the contract.
