Supply Chain Manager – Waltham Abbey

About the Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for the development and implementation of a Procurement and Supply Chain Management Strategy that supports the Company’s business plan and objectives. The successful applicant will need to continue to develop the relationship between the Group and subcontractor supply chain and to identify and explore strategic procurement opportunities to the mutual benefit of all.

They will also manage the Supply Chain Team and Sub Contractor database, introducing the necessary systems, procedures and policies that bring long term benefits aligned with the Business Plans and Objectives the outcome of which contribute to the increased profitability of the Company.

Key deliverables include;

  • Engage with the regional business units to meet the business plan objectives and supply chain needs
  • Review Trade Categories and ensure Database is commensurate with Group Business Plans, optimising number geographically, technically and financially
  • Assist with the management and training for the supply chain database
  • Manage and regularly update the supply chain database
  • Manage the performance criteria for entry onto the supply chain database
  • Act as key contact for the external data base software support team
  • Actively promote the business to optimise the subcontractor database in line with the regional requirements for each business unit
  • Monitor and assist in the return of supply chain performance reviews at the end of each contract
  • Regularly review the performance marking criteria on a contract by contract basis, identifying and trends of under or exceptional performance
  • Maintain a review of performance and discuss any concerns with the subcontractor, liaising with the Regional Directors and Commercial Managers, Customer Service Manager for input and outcomes
  • Regularly provide Management Information to the Regional Directors, Commercial Managers and Head of Customer Service
  • Provide recommendations and plans of improvements to the database via a monthly report to be available for Management Meetings and quarterly Board meetings
  • Report to include:
    • Additions to database
    • Expulsions from database
    • Update on any members by exception (from reports received in the period)
    • Report on exposure
    • Anticipated movements in the prices of commodities (quarterly)
    • Summary of lead in times for key trades (quarterly)
    • Report on trends in buying gains on a rolling 12 month, 6 month basis
  • Arrange and attend supply chain events in order to enhance and improve supply chain relationships
  • Hold regular meetings with the supply chain in order to development relationships
  • Assisting the regional teams to trouble shoot to resolve difficulties with the supply chain
  • Ensure workload is managed effectively in awards to the supply chain through close engagement with the regional teams
  • Attracting new subcontractors with the appropriate skills, resource, required performance history, qualifications and commercial viability in order to grow the supply chain

Be able to demonstrate business and commercial acumen through;

  • Exploring strategic opportunities with the Subcontract supply chain for:
    • Batched orders on multiple projects
    • Managing current regional trade deals with key commodity suppliers to maximise buying gains whilst retaining the quality of service we require
  • Negotiating annual fixed prices per product category where required
  • Negotiating annual rebates with Trading partners
  • Managing the renewal of any agreements.
  • Identifying the Key Performance Metrics per category and review annually

Constant monitoring of their database to achieve an optimum number of Suppliers and Sub-Contractors.

About the Requirements:

Knowledge and Experience

  • Strategic understanding of business and the strategic importance of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management
  • Contractual & Commercial knowledge and understanding
  • CIPS Member (preferred)
  • 5 years in similar Role
  • Continuously keeping knowledge up to date on Purchasing and Supply developments
  • Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures
  • Previously managed and developed a direct team
