Role Overview:
Highways is the largest of five business units that make up the Galliford Try Infrastructure Division. It delivers projects for national and local clients.
The team has expanded in recent times and with strong project performance along with successful work winning, we are continuing to build and re-structure the business including operations for Highways England, Local Authorities and Highway Maintenance.

The project that this role is required for is to work on Highways England's flagship Smart Motorways Programme and is being delivered via a joint venture between Galliford Try and Costain. We are improving the 37.9km (23.6 miles) section of the M1 between junctions 13 and 16, which passes through Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire and provides connections to the towns of Bedford, Milton Keynes and Northampton. The project will involve upgrading this section to an All-Lane Running (ALR) smart motorway.
The purpose of the role of Project Improvement Coordinator will be to lead the project's Collaborative Performance Framework (CPF) integrated submissions to the Highways England Performance Team; the CPF is Highways England's Performance Monitoring Toolkit and the role will involve working closely with Performance Managers, the internal site team and designers to help drive performance across the project and sharing best practice across all parties to optimise performance and scores.
This project continues building on a successful track record delivering to Highways England adding to our impressive portfolio of Smart Motorway and Major Highway works.

Key duties and responsibilities
§ Initiate and coordinate the integrated Collaborative Performance Framework (CPF) submissions to Highways England Performance Team (HEPT) for the project, to the timescales specified by HEPT.
§ Liaise with HEPT to clarify, and where appropriate agree requirements for the CPF, timeframes and intelligence on metrics. Work with HEPT and project suppliers to agree the final set of metrics to be taken forward.
§ Collate CPF evidence from all members of the team to produce an appropriate integrated CPF submission for the project to a fixed timescale (WD10 each quarter).
§ Liaise with the expended team (contractor, designers, HE, suppliers, stakeholders) to ensure evidence provided is robust, comprehensive and to the necessary granularity required for CPF.
§ Where clarification concerning the CPF evidence is requested by HEPT, the CPF Performance Coordinator shall liaise with the suppliers to collate the required information and compose an integrated response, within the timescales specified by HEPT.
§ Review scores/evidence at an aggregated and disaggregated level to identify weak areas and to drive improvement, and where best practice can be shared across the integrated team, reporting to the CPF lead.
§ Identify and escalate to the necessary level issues surrounding any blockers to gathering the required information or achieving high scores.
§ Produce and update an Integrated CPF Dashboard for circulation and reporting to the CPF Lead.
§ Share feedback in an open book environment with the suppliers and IDMT to drive improvement and to achieve higher scores.
§ If required, liaise with HEPT to present the scores/ evidence and negotiate/ agree scores.
§ Communicate and escalate to the CPF lead the impacts of the achieved scores in relation to the Base and High performance funds and suppliers' share of PLIF.
§ A database of PI initiatives will be kept updated in order to report to the Innovation and Production Improvement Manager on:
o initiatives in the pipeline
o active initiatives
o successful completion and benefits
§ Require working with various levels of management and operatives across the project.
§ Report directly to the Innovation and Production Manager and will be responsible for monthly reporting on initiatives as well as ad hoc presentation of status as needed.
§ The PPI Coordinator will be in the delivery team, site based and be expected to work with the project Management team, the contractor, the designers and the client.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience & Qualifications

· Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion.
· Has an enquiring mind and questioning approach to analysis.
· Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts in detail whilst still retaining perspective and focus on the wider picture.
· Experience of performance monitoring/ management on major projects and preferably some familiarity with Highways England performance monitoring toolkits e.g. MST.
· Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively.
· Has passion for continuous improvement, value engineering and innovation, a drive for results and the tenacity to drive initiatives to completion in a challenging, changeable environment.
· Has good interpersonal and excellent communication skills, written and presentations (excel, word, power point), and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others including senior management.
· A self-motivated individual able to take initiative and work independently as required, driven for results.
· Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function.
· Experience of engaging with Highways England Performance Team (formerly Commercial Intelligence) beneficial, however not essential.
· Is not afraid to address and challenge blockers to information or to tackle challenges such as weak performance areas, working in collaboration with Contractors and Designer to improve scores and performance.
· Can deliver accurate and robust reports orally and written, in an objective and persuasive manner.
· Is used to delivering in a time pressured environment to meet client deadlines, and driving timely delivery from others.
· Is able to command respect and communicate the importance of the Collaborative Performance Framework (CPF) to the wider team.
· Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.
