To help deliver this ambition the Estates team need to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor / Space Planner.
Your New Role
Your new role will be surveying current information for the University estate space inventory; working closely with others to plan room layouts including furniture, equipment, etc. and making appropriate recommendations to integrate ideas into the estates masterplan.
You will conduct space feasibility and utilisation surveys, classifying space according to appropriate standards and procedures and provide updated information or reports on current room utilization and space dimensions, ensuring asset and space management systems are properly managed and maintained.
Responsible to the Head of Projects, you will operate as part of a team and will have the skills to undertake condition surveys linking the collated information into the "best fit" space utilization data, ensuring optimum use of space.
The role holder will be required to travel between university sites (Stafford, Lichfield and Shrewsbury) on occasions, however the position will predominantly be based at the Stoke campus.
In order to be considered for the role, you must have proven experience in space planning and design management of buildings, including the ability to undertake condition surveys and transfer this information to facilities and space management systems. You must be educated to degree level in a Building related discipline including Architecture, Urban Design, Urban planning, Environmental studies, Building Surveying, etc. It is also essential that candidates are proficient in space planning related software, including AutoCAD & Adobe Photoshop.
You will have good IT skills, including the use of space and asset management computer applications and be able to provide study reports, technical documentations, project plans and be able to read, understand and interpret blue prints. You will be highly analytical and able to present excellent interpersonal, influencing, team building and communication skills. Previous experience in a Higher Education setting would be preferable.
