Hays are proud to be working with one of London's leading Universities to find a Technical CAD Manager for a specialist team within their estate function.
The Technical CAD Manager is responsible for the development, management and maintenance of drawings relating to the University's built assets, specifically the building management and critical systems. Key duties include: providing governance for the technical building drawings for the estate directorate; conducting audits for safety and compliance related technical drawings; developing a technical library and ongoing management for drawings and plans having resulted from safety related projects.
The department is also advancing their utilisation of BIM and 3D, and the post will be pivotal to developing the BIM strategy, in relation to critical systems. A key expectation will be to bringing forward ideas, expertise and best practice in developing this capability within the department.
Although working within a very collaborative team, the role will sit autonomously, and you will enjoy independence and freedom to develop ideas and work projects; as well as interfacing with the university's teaching staff and students.
What you'll get in return
Salary will dependant on individual skill and experience, with a range of £38,000 to £45,000. Benefits are excellent: Holidays starting at 27 days plus Christmas shut-down given as extra. 35 hour working week with options for flexibility on start and finish times. This is a genuinely rare opportunity. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds may be considered, including but not limited to a design studio/consultancy, other public-sector organisations, manufacturing or engineering sectors. You will have an industry recognised qualification relating to CAD design, with high levels of attention to detail in technical drawing and appreciation of how buildings are designed. You will have a knowledge of BIM/Revit and a passion to develop this further.
