Yorkshire Housing (YH) manages nearly 20,000 affordable and social rent homes across 20 local authorities. With a turnover of £135m, investment facilities totalling £1.1bn and a workforce of over 700 colleagues, we are one of the largest developing housing associations in Yorkshire. We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning all our earnings are re-invested into the services we provide.
YH has grown a lot over the last three years and has ambitious plans for the future. Not only are we investing heavily in our existing homes (and doing our part for the planet by aiming to be one of the first UK housing associations to stop using fossil fuel heating and hot water systems) but we aim to build 8,000 new homes by 2030.
We are also committed to changing the way we do things through changing the pretext of the customer offer from being reactive to pre-emptive. This will deliver both a great customer and employee experience.

About our new candidates
To support us to realise our ambitious plans we are looking to appoint two Independent Committee Members to join our Homes and Places Committee and a Board Member to join our wholly owned commercial subsidiary YH Residential Ltd. Previous non-executive experience is not essential, neither is living in Yorkshire - we even have some Lancastrians working with us!
We are seeking talented, skilled and experienced individuals who are passionate, innovative and share our vision and are able to share their expertise.

The Homes and Places Committee is responsible for supporting the YHL Board in delivering its overall Business Strategy, with a particular focus on two of our five key priorities: Great Customer Experience and Homes and Places to be Proud of.
We are seeking experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion – performance monitoring and implementation
- Consumer Regulation – understanding of its implications and compliance
- Customer Voice in Governance
- Service transformation, including digital
The YH Residential Board (YHR) is responsible for overseeing the management and delivery of non-social housing activities as delegated by the Board of Yorkshire Housing Limited (YHL). The YHR Board oversees the development of new homes for market sale and market rent. It also oversees the performance of Forge New Homes LLP (our Joint Venture in South Yorkshire) and all other commercial activity.
We are seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Leasehold – managing, contracting and service delivery
- Market Rent – marketing, managing, understanding of current market
- Residential Property Development - property investment, construction, land acquisition, current housing and planning issues

Remuneration: £3,000 per annum (under review), plus expenses
