My client, a leading consultancy in the South West are looking to bring in an Interim Civil Engineer for a 6 -12 month contract, outside of IR35, to deliver civil engineering support. Due to continued growth and development into new sectors my client is looking to increase the interim head count of interim electrical design engineers.
The key responsibilities of the Interim Civil Engineer are:
Deliver effective line management in the Structures section including checking and allocation of work together with monitoring performance and maintaining appropriate records.
Managing a diverse variety of schemes and projects in such a manner to ensure that an expeditious, efficient and cost effective service is provided to meet the needs and priorities of the Council, keeping the Service Manager regularly advised as to progress, future requirements and problem areas.
Undertaking and processing structural surveys and the production of detailed survey/topographical plans.
Production of Structural and Civil Engineering designs, plans, detailed drawings, bills of quantities and contract documentation in all traditional materials using relevant computer software.
Essential skills / experience the Interim Civil Engineer will need are:
Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and statutory obligations Knowledge of Civil Engineering Method of Measurement
Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Incorporated Engineer Status
Experience of structural and civil engineering design, survey, taking-off quantities and contract preparation including use of modern computer techniques.
Proven or demonstrable track record of supervising contractors and of administering contracts, measurements and accounts.
Ability and adaptability in structural engineering practices and design standards in the broad range of buildings and structures found within the regional environment, including urban, commercial, industrial, domestic, leisure, marine, and highway structures.
Skilled in the use of GIS systems, Autocad LT and Autocad Version 2009.
Experience in both urban and marine environments together with experience in the design of marine structures and other related elements.
Demonstrable experience of preparing contracts and design using the ICE Conditions of Contract and the DETR Specification for Highway Works and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridgeworks.
What is on offer to the candidate is a long term interim assignment, outside of IR35, with a company that promotes flexible working and is able to support non traditional working arrangements / patterns. A daily rate is flexible to experience, but my client will match market rates.
