Your new employer owns and manages a diverse property portfolio across throughout Surrey, from residential property to industrial assets and schools. The organisation has a well supported property function and a team of professionals to maintain and improve their property assets. Due to the size of their portfolio the property team are looking for a building surveyor with strong technical knowledge across modern and historic buildings to join the team and assist with the maintenance, repairs, upgrades and improvements of large and small units, carrying out vital inspections, reports and projects ranging in value from £20K to £200K.
Your new role
Reporting into a senior building surveyor you will be responsible for managing your own workloads and providing technical services across multiple projects simultaneously.
The projects may involve, but are not limited to roof, window and door renewals and external decorations, and you will be responsible for carrying out defect analysis and technical inspections, producing specifications and schedules of works. You will carry out duties required under NEC and JCT forms of contract so understanding of each format is essential.
As you will be operating on an intermediate to senior surveyor level you may well be required to manage or mentor a junior, graduate surveyor or intern when required, checking their work and providing them with support and guidance.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this role you will firstly require an undergraduate or equivalent level degree in building surveying or a closely related subject, and you will need to be able to demonstrate a practical application of building surveying knowledge.
You will require a minimum of three years industry experience, ideally across a variety of projects and property types.
You will need to be able to work independently, with minimal supervision and support, and strong communication is key as you will liaise with contractors, consultants, stakeholders, and colleagues alike, managing expectations and instructing as needed.
Ideally you will be working towards a professional qualification, either CIOB or RICS.
You will need a fully valid driver's license and access to a vehicle as this role will require travel across Surrey for site visits and client meetings/briefings.
What you'll get in return
In return for your commitment you will receive an annual salary between £35 & 40K (dependent on experience) as well as a 6.8% employer contributed pension.
You will be able to work flexibly, following core hours of 10-4 with a home working day in addition.
This role comes with 30 days of annual leave per annum with bank holidays on top.
