Quantity Surveyor

We are currently seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to oversee all construction costs across multiple projects procured under cost plus, development management, construction management and design & build contracts. Projects will vary in size and will primarily be Hotels, Residential and Commercial Offices.

Michael Page are currently representing a high end boutique property developer based in central London who specialise in medium to larger developments in hospitality, residential and commercial sectors.


  • Interrogate costs on a granular level to verify expenditure claims - feed this into monthly certification.
  • Sign off on valuations produced by external cost consultants.
  • Challenge all construction related costs to ensure we are achieving value for money in what we are buying.
  • Schedule and control purchase orders including obtaining approvals before works are instigated and reconciling expenditure against approvals.
  • Be responsible for ensuring materials & services are provided prior to payment approval.
  • On cost plus/CM contracts set up and run a fit-for-purpose system for monitoring productivity to allow effective challenge to contractors.
  • Visit sites to spot check material purchased, labour and management staff numbers.
  • Profile

  • A motivated self -starter with circa 10 years experience in challenging construction costs ideally with a developer or contractor working in the budget hotel, low cost residential and/or student housing sectors.
  • Detailed understanding of commercial development from a cost control perspective and knowledge of the tricks contractors and suppliers apply to increase their margins.
  • Highly numerate with excellent Excel skills.
  • Ability to concisely present complicated and detailed processes to senior management.
